Awakenings (1990)

| A pioneering neurologist wants to take a risk and give his patients who suffer from encephalitis a drug used for Parkinson's Disease. He tries it out on one man who miraculously wakes from his perpetual catatonic state. After his initial success, the hospital staff allows him to "wake" the other patients on the ward, who all make remarkable recoveries. But the "miracle" proves fleeting as, one by one, the patients return to their solitary, trance-like worlds.

| In this third and final entry in the "Back to the Future" series, loopy "Doc" Brown, the creator of the time-traveling DeLorean, goes back to 1885 -- the heyday of the Old West, and his favorite era - where he falls in love with a beautiful school teacher. Marty must rescue the good doctor, however, when he learns that the treacherous Mad Dog Tannen, leader of the rascally Tannen gang, is gunning for Doc -- and the yellow-bellied coward won't hesitate to shoot him in the back. Because of his newfound romance, however, Brown doesn't want to leave. Can Marty find a way to bring Doc's love back to the future without destroying the pattern of time?

Movie follows the troubled romance of Sailor and Lula, two lovers who struggle to remain together
even when fate seems intent on keeping them apart. In this case, fate is Lula?s mother, Marietta Fortune (Diane Ladd), a desperate woman who hates Sailor and will do anything to keep him away from her daughter. After Sailor is released from prison for murdering a man - yet in selfdefense - he and sex-filled, rocking road trip, aware that they are being hunted by one of Marietta?s cronies. When they pull off the road in order to hide out in a small trailer park, Sailor befriends Bobby Peru, an incredibly intense war veteran with a rotten set of teeth. Bobby convinces Sailor to help him rob a bank, much to Lula's objections. Sailor must decide if he wants to go straight and be there for his child or remain under Bobby?s influence and risk returning to jail.

So began Edward's fantastical adventures in a pastel paradise known as Suburbia.

Goodfellas (1990)

Martin Scorsese's 1990 masterpiece GoodFellas immortalizes the hilarious, horrifying life of actual gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), from his teen years on the streets of New York to his anonymous exile under the Witness Protection Program. The director's kinetic style is perfect for recounting Hill's ruthless rise to power in the 1950s as well as his drugged-out fall in the late 1970s; in fact, no one has ever rendered the mental dislocation of cocaine better than Scorsese. Scorsese uses period music perfectly, not just to summon a particular time but to set a precise mood. GoodFellas is at least as good as The Godfather without being in the least derivative of it. Joe Pesci's psycho improvisation of Mobster Tommy DeVito ignited Pesci as a star, Lorraine Bracco scores the performance of her life as Hill's love interest, and every supporting role, from Paul Sorvino to Robert De Niro, is a miracle.

| Is there anything scarier than clowns? Of course not. And who knows scary better than Stephen King? You see where we're going. It puts a malevolent clown (given demented life by a powdered, red-nosed Tim Curry) front and center, as King's fat novel gets the TV-movie treatment. Even at three hours plus, the action is condensed, but an engaging Stand by Me vibe prevails for much of the running time. The seven main characters, as adolescents, conquered a force of pure evil in their Maine hometown. Now, the cackling Pennywise is back, and they must come home to fight him--or, should we say, It again. Admitting the TV-movie trappings and sometimes hysterical performances, this is a genuinely gripping thriller. As so often with King, the basic idea (the bond formed during a childhood trauma) is clean and powerful, a lifeline anchored in reality that leads us to the supernatural.

His ability to shed one single tear drives all the girls wild, especially Allison Vernon-Williams (Amy Locane). A beautiful, rich "square," Allison finds herself drawn into the world of Cry-Baby and his "drape" pals. Soon she finds herself eagerly inhaling the evil influences of rockabilly music and fast cars. Spoofing Elvis movies and Juvenile Delinquency scare films of the '50s, this movie follows the adventures of Cry-Baby who, though he is sent to juvie, is determined to cross class (and taste) boundaries to get Allison back. | After a fight with his older brother, Buzz, over Little Nero's pizza, in front of the rest of the family results in him being sent up to the third floor for the night, Kevin McCallister (Culkin) wishes that his family would simply disappear. After a power line failure which neutralizes all the alarm clocks, the rest of the family rushes to leave to go on a Christmas vacation to Paris, France. During the confusion, Kevin is accidentally left at home by himself and experiences what it is like to be independent for the first time, but two prowlers, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), plan to break-into his house. But Kevin sets up traps out of household items. The intruders are caught, and Kevin is reunited by his family who came back.

| Lt. John Dunbar is dubbed a hero after he accidentally leads Union troops to a victory during the Civil War. He requests a position on the western frontier, but finds it deserted. He soon finds out he is not alone, but meets a wolf he dubs"Two-socks" and a curious Indian tribe. Dunbar quickly makes friends with the tribe, and discovers a white woman who was raised by the Indians. He gradually earns the respect of these native people, and sheds his white-man's ways.
